[TOOL] GTA IV savegames
« on: January 02, 2009, 10:31:34 PM »
So i decided to make this tutorial as i re-installed vista a few days ago and had to install everything all again because of technical problems...

THIS WILL LET YOU USE ANY SAVEGAME YOU WANT

ALWAYS MAKE BACKUPS OF YOUR ORIGINAL FILES!

#What you need:

- game version 1.0.1.0

- savegame

- xlive wrapper 1.2.0.7(tool that allows gta iv to run with modified files) http://blog.gib.me/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/xlive_wrapper_1207.zip

#What you need to do:

1. Download XLive Wrapper from: http://blog.gib.me/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/xlive_wrapper_1207.zip

2. Extract xlive.dll to GTA IV's directory. (example: C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\ [here ] )

Optionally, if you want to see the user interface for Games For Windows in-game, extract CopyXLiveResources.exe to GTA IV's directory.(i recommend that)

3. If you extracted CopyXLiveResources.exe, run it.

If you ran CopyXLiveResources.exe, you may now delete it. (if a message appears click: YES )

4. Copy your savegame in these folders (IN YOUR USER FOLDER, IF YOU CAN'T FIND ONE START THE GAME AND CREATE AND OFFLINE ACCOUNT AND PLAY THE 1st mission)

             -For XP: C:\Documents and Settings\ [your name] \Local Settings\Application Data\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\user_e00000xxxxxxxxxx

             -For VISTA: C:\Users\ [your name] \AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\user_e00000xxxxxxxxx

Copy your savegame files (SGTA400, ...) in the user(user_e000...) folders and replace the existing ones! ALWAYS BACKUP ORIGINAL ONES!!!
You can additionally rename the SGTA400 to SGTA401/402/... if you don't want to replace one of yyour already existing game 12 save slots...

5. Play GTA IV and click YES on the message that will appear!

6. Feel free to ask for support!

also important note from the creator:
Quote
DO NOT EXTRACT THE XLIVE.DLL FILE TO YOUR SYSTEM32 DIRECTORY !!!

UPDATE:XP/ 7/ VISTAx64 when running the game with xlive wrapper, and a message from step [5.]appears and can't copy the  XLIVE.DLL from SYSTEM32 folder,---> CHANGE in the file: xlive_wrapper.txt (create one if doesn't appear) from GTA IV directory:

Quote
System directory = C:\Windows\system32 ---to---> System directory = C:\Windows\SysWOW64

 THIS WILL LET YOU USE ANY SAVEGAME YOU WANT

you can even put them in your games empty slots(total 12), renaming the save SGTA400-SGTA012, so you don't really have to replace your existing ones

Really nice, i,ll make a backup of the original before i test it!

you can find 100% on the internet...

btw if you're at 50% that means you are about to finish the story!(the story takes 60% and the other 40% is all the extra stuff you need to complet, jumps, pigeons, police, extra missions)
