How to clean your MotherBoard

How to clean a Motherboard

Motherboard is the main part of your computer that contains all hardwarecomponents. Your computer motherboard could fry, if you do not keep it clean on periodically basis. Dust is the main cause to heat up your system and heat link to hardware failure. You can save your computer maintenance cost if you clean your computer on the regular basis. This will improve the cooling and performance of the motherboard components.

    * To clean your motherboard first unplugs your system power from the electrical outlet.
    * Using the screwdriver remove the side covers of your computer case and put them to one side.
    * Check all data and power cables connections. Inspect all motherboard PCI and AGP slots.
    * Remove all add-on card of your motherboardfor example RAM, modem, VGA, sound card and LAN card.
    * Now blow the air around all themotherboard sides and keeping away your blower nozzle 4 to 5 inches away from main board components. You can use vacuum cleaner also for this purpose but compressed air is the better solution to clean a system.
    * At the end assemble back all cards, cables and side covers of your system.
    * I recommend you doing this after every three months if you want to save your system life.

So you no need to take out $ to call technicians asking for high payment to clean it

and take out your thing carefully.

LoL she really  hate it :D

I use a cheap 6 litre air compressor (about 50€ I think...) that I have to use with an airbrush..
its noisy till the tank fills but then no noise till next charge..

Compressed Air pistol blowing + Vacuum cleaner eating...the best option for me.

One time I killed an old computer where I took the regular vacuum with the hose and the brush and literally swept over my mobo.

Let's say that upon turning on the PC it did not boot and the mobo was fried!  Hahah, next time use compressed air and use the hose to suck the dirt.

The goal of cleaning the motherboard is to remove all dust and debris from the motherboard and all components inside of the case. This can be done using one of three methods.

Compressed Air pistol blowing

beware not to rotate the fans too quick due to compressed air, or you risk to break them.

Pretty much anything that blows a large amount of air will do it lol. I use an air bed pump to blow out all the dust and stuff when it gets too dirty.

You can also buy a can of compressed air.

something that can blow air and remove all dust and dirt that may have spread over the mobo with the time.

jsut be carefull you dont touch/hit any part of the mobo while the cleaning so you dont damage anything vital on it..also remember dont use those magnetic screwdrivers. and to do earth contact to avoid static shortcuts while touching electronics.

using a vacuum cleaner with one of those sort of soft brushes should do the trick and leave it clean as if it was new :)

You can use vacuum cleaner also for this purpose but compressed air is the better solution to clean a system.

Using a vacuum cleaner is dangerous because it can generate static elecricity and damage components. Be careful if you decide to use one.

This is paranoid. As long as you use the vacuum to BLOW air directly from the tube and without any brush attached it is exaggerated to say that static charged can be produced.

thx to PATALETE for teh sig
