Graphene Transistors that Work at Blistering Speeds 100 gigahertz

Speedy switches: These arrays of transistors, printed on a silicon carbide wafer, operate at speeds of 100 gigahertz.

IBM has created graphene transistors that leave silicon ones in the dust. The prototype devices, made from atom-thick sheets of carbon, operate at 100 gigahertz--meaning they can switch on and off 100 billion times each second, about 10 times as fast as the speediest silicon transistors.

xx Chrome OS Concept Tablet Breaks Cover With Demo | 02 Feb 10

Tech News & Reviews
With all of this iPad buzz stirring up the tech world over the past  couple of weeks, Chrome OS has almost been forgotten. That may have something to do with the fact that Google has yet to officially release the netbook-centric operating system to the public, but still, you'd expect a company like Google to keep the details flowing about a forthcoming operating system.  Today it seems we're getting exactly what you'd expect, in response to all the recent tablet fanfare.

A while back, we heard that Chrome OS would only be made for certain systems that met certain specifications, namely netbooks that were tailor made to run the OS. This approach is similar to the one taken by Apple with regard to OS X, which will only operate on Apple-built systems. But as the "Year Of Th

xx Getting the cheapest quad-core | 30 Jan 10

Tech News & Reviews
This comparison was made for those of you who want to buy a quad-core CPU and are on a limited budget.

This is not a comparison for games. People that just game, would be better off with a high-frequency dual-core and should invest more on graphics cards. I have chosen quad-core because they are better suited for multitasking and multi-threaded applications, not just games.

This is relevant only if you want to buy an entire platform (AM3 or LGA1156) thus meaning a minimum of CPU+MOBO+RAM will be purchased.
I have chosen AM3 and LGA1156 to make an AMD vs. Intel comparison.
LGA1336 is just not a budget solution because of the higher overall prices.

I wanted to study the cheapest way to get a quad-core, but also the costs...

ATI Radeon HD 5970 Game Bechmarks

The Radeon HD 5970 looks to be well suited for the job. The GPUs used in this card use exactly the same configuration found on the Radeon HD 5870, while core and memory frequencies match those of the Radeon HD 5850. This provides the HD 5970 with an unmatched memory bandwidth of 256GB/s.
